A few other new developments to Assassin's Creed Odyssey past what Origins introduced us is the Mercenary system that essentially works like a GTA desired level, and we have seen some version of this in past AC games, minus the termed bounty hunters chasing you ASSASSIN'S CREED ODYSSEY Helix Credits . Commit crimes, which is practically mandatory to clear areas from the game, and you will receive anywhere from 1-5 mercenaries sent after you at a time. You can kill them and take their equipment and move up the mercenary ladder, but it seems just like AC took a cool item out of Origins and sort of overdid it . And again, expectations may not stand out here. I heard many people comparing AC's new mercenary system to Shadow of Mordor's Nemesis system, but other than mercs having names and weaknesses and showing up at inconvenient times throughout quests, both are not much alike.

Possibly the strangest addition to Assassin's Creed Odyssey is that the new"Nation Power" system where each zone you see is controlled by Sparta or Athens, and also you are able to burn supplies, kill leaders and wreak havoc to"weaken" the area, which will eventually activate a conquest battle that is an open area skirmish where you are going to have to cut through dozens of enemies, including a mercenary or Cult member or two. It's an odd system since you quickly learn that you're never going to be more loyal to either Athens or Sparta.

Your missions will have you killing countless soldiers from either side, and you are able to say, spend time tearing down an Athens-held island, simply to choose to defend Athens as it is finally time for the conquest battle. I guess this makes sense out of a"mercenary does whatever is needed to get paid" standpoint, but it seems weird when as the narrative buy ACO Helix Credits progresses, it's apparent Kassandra is supposed to be greater than a straightforward shit-stirrer, yet that feels like her primary goal in this system. It's also odd because in an open world match where the character of this dictates that you wish to"clear" as many landmarks as possible, you may often wind up weakening the leaders you are working with that are giving you story missions. It is a little bizarre.

Almost the entire map is a set of islands, which implies that for the eighty millionth time, boat battle returns to Assassin's Creed. I have to say, I am somewhat tired of it, particularly since we're not in a"pirate" age and we're limited in battle to arrows and javelins. It is just not that entertaining, though I understand why boats were necessary given the way this map is put out.
